Bourbon goes with everything

Saucy Wench #2 has moved into the second phase of her breakup – anger, sugar and a little bourbon on the side! This calls for American Honey Bourbon Cupcakes…..yes you read that right or as we also call them Ambrosia for the Soul.  The recipe was straight forward and easy to follow if a little heavy on the butter but hey it is from the South.  The cupcakes were not overly sweet and had a slightly coarser consistency which was complimented by the epic, creamy icing.  The bourbon icing lead to a battle of the beaters between us wenches.  Wench #1 remarked she needed a moment alone after licking the beater.  Saucy Wench #2 then accidently showed her “happy” face – if you know what I mean.  We both feel that this is one of the best buttercream icings we have ever tasted.    The original recipe called for a bourbon drizzle which we promptly ditched after tasting the icing….we just couldn’t take any more.

As for alternate ideas for this recipe, it is by unanimous decision that we say just make the icing and dip whatever you want into it.  Suggestions:  ladyfingers, amaretto cookies, strawberries, spoons or fingers…I will leave it at that so our rating stays PG.    

We leave you with our traditional Saucy Wenches thought of the day:  If you are at the gym and you are showing more than you show your gynecologist, it is time to invest in some longer and definitely looser shorts.
